The biosolids removed in the primary and secondary clarifiers are stored until there is enough to process. The solids, which are still in a liquid form, are pumped into another tank and mixed with a polymer that causes the loose material to clump together and help separate from the water. The conditioned biosolids are moved to a Huber inclined screw press that uses gravity and pressure to remove water from the solids. This process produces a dry cake that is trucked to a biosolids processor that further treats the biosolids so that it can be land applied and used as a fertilizing soil conditioner.
